Social sites top online searches

Microblogging site Twitter, teen vampire flick Twilight and TV cooking show phenomenon MasterChef, emerged as the fastest rising internet searches according to Google's list of what was hot in 2009. When looked at in total, search queries reflect the people, places and events that captured our attention throughout the year.

The sudden death of pop legend Michael Jackson sent Australians rushing to their computers for more information, as did the rumoured deaths of actors Jeff Goldblum and Miley Cyrus.
