the Edge Without the Social Stigma

This was when the punk scene really took hold, but the Faux Hawk is really a derisive term, and is used for those "outsiders" who wear this cut and would never be seen going so far as The Mohawk cut which this hairstyle takes its name from derives from the mid 1980's. One of whom is Blake Lewis, his spiky messy hair looks really good. David Beckham has been wearing this style for a couple of years now, but in 2009 we have seen a few more young celebrities going with this look. But if you find you are still resistant to change, you are still able to get this haircut and wear down on top if you would like to appear more conservative.

It is quite a versatile haircut, and can be worn gelled to make the longer hair on top stand up. The most prominent of these being the one and only David Beckham, star British footballer! This has cut become a mainstream hairstyle, mainly due to it popularity with more than just a few celebrities. This cut still allows you to look edgy, but you don't have to go too far to get that edgy look.

It is a shorter, flatter version of the Mohawk and the sides of head are not shaven. Essentially this is a men's haircut, but it can also look very stylish on a woman, if you dare to wear it. The word "faux" means false in French, and this tells us that the Faux Hawk haircut is a derivative of the Mohawk.
